Change of market for holidays in Ireland — FACT FILE — IRELAND

The Irish holiday market is experiencing change this year, with more an more Irish residents using self catering accommodation instead of Bed and Breakfast according to statistics from the Central Statistics Office. In the first 3 months of 2005 there were 26% fewer nights spent in B&Bs and guesthouses compared with the same period in 2004. In the same period this year the occupancy in self catering accommodation has grown by 27%.The figures for the same period for accommodation in conference centres and hotels has remained unchanged.
