The unspoilt village of Fressingfield which boasts 55 listed buildings is some 10 miles due East of the town of Diss on the other side of the River Waveney and only 20-25 minutes drive from the lovely and unspoilt Suffolk coast, home of some very pretty coastal villages and beaches such as Southwold, Walberswick, Dunwich and Aldeburgh.
The church in Fressingfield is one of many fine East Anglian churches. Archbishop Sancroft, who left the area to become Dean of St.Paul's Cathedral in 1664 and worked with Sir Christopher Wren on the re-building of St. Paul's, returned to be buried here.

The cottage is in the heart of the village, which includes among its amenities a Church, Post Office, Village Stores, Pub and the well known Restaurant "The Fox & Goose". A few miles away is the village of Wingfield with its Medieval Castle, one of the last private Castle residences in East Anglia and Wingfield College, where concerts are held during the summer months. The RSPB Nature Reserve in Minsmere is one of the most well-known bird watching sites in the British Isles all year around. Orford and Framlingham Castles and the Viking burial ship at Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge are within an hour's drive. Further South is the village of Long Melford, with the longest High Street in the country, stuffed with antique shops. The town of Aldeburgh where Benjamin Britten set his opera, Peter Grimes holds its annual festival at Snape Maltings on the River Deben
