Local Information

Antibes is a facinating old town. It is situated between Cannes and Nice on a promontory with the majority of the traffic passing behind it, inland. The main Autoroute is 10 minutes away. It is approximately half an hour by car from Nice International Airport and there are bus services from the airport to Antibes and the usual hire cars and taxis. The medieval town has high sea rampart and the Rue du Haut Castellet is within the walls of the citadel in one of the prettiest streets, lined with flowers on the houses. It was founded by the Greeks and then became a strong Roman settlement. In more recent times Picasso and Graham Greene lived there. The Picasso museum is situated in the old town.

Leisure Facilities

It is a good touring centre with Monte Carlo and Italy nearby along the spectacular coastal road. There are golf courses, tennis courts, sailing, water sports and fishing here. There are excellent beaches which can be reached on foot, some are public and a few are private with restaurants. There is the largest marina on the Riviera with yachts moored there from all over the world. The old wharf sheds have been converted to make a superb opera house, floodlit at night. The market is wonderful- a five minute walk from the house — open every morning with fresh fruit, vegatables, cheeses, flowers, fish etc. There are numerous restaurants at all prices in the old town and nearby hill villages. You will enjoy your stay in Antibes and want to return again and again.
